GLASSBORO, N.J. – The democratic and the republican club at Rowan University showed the last presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton last night in the student center’s pit.
Several students showed up to watch to stay informed or to be entertained.
While the clubs were setting up a couple hours before the debate, two students approached me and asked, “What are they going to show?”
Once they knew it was a viewing of the last debate, they left.
“Remind me not to come back here,” said one student.
I don’t blame them for leaving. Many Americans are frustrated with the two people we have narrowed down from the list of potential candidates for president.
Some students also may not be interested in politics. However, several students attended and stayed. The room was almost full once the debate started.

Chris Wallace from Fox News moderated. His first question was addressed to both candidates and Clinton answered first.
Wallace said, “First of all, where do you want to see the court take the country?”
Clinton’s Supreme Court would represent all people including women. Meanwhile, Trump’s Supreme Court would uphold the 2nd amendment. It seems like Trump only has his interests in mind.
The next topic in the debate was abortion. Trump spoke first and said he was prolife.
Once Trump was finished speaking, it was Clinton’s turn. She talked about Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood.
Clinton said, “I will defend Planned Parenthood. I will defend Roe v. Wade, and I will defend women’s rights to make their own healthcare decision.”
It was Trump’s turn to react.
Trump said, “Now, you can say that that’s okay, and Hillary can say that that’s okay, but it’s not okay with me. Because based on what she’s saying and based on where she’s going and where she’s been, you can take the baby and rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month, on the final day. And that’s not acceptable.”
Trump assumes most abortions happen the day before birth, but that is not true. In the United States, people can have abortions in 24 weeks or less.
If you are a woman, do you really want the government controlling our bodies?
Throughout the debate, Trump repeatedly interrupts Clinton. The word “wrong” was repeated by Trump as Clinton was talking.
Some of the students laughed at Trump’s interruptions.

This last presidential debate was the most informative of the three. It is important that everyone is informed before making their vote on Nov. 8.

At the end of the debate, Clinton is the winner. For me, it is important that a president leads for all people.
Her interests are with women, children, and men. I can’t say the same for Trump.
